How to Schedule Your Appointment
Call Vermont Natural Family Health at 802-352-9078
Before you schedule, think about the following things:
1. Do you want Maya Abdominal Massage? Or, are you simply seeking a consultation?
2. How does Maya Abdominal Massage fit into your menstrual cycle, if you have one? Or, are you pregnant or have you recently given birth?
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
General Naturopathic visits for adults or children are scheduled at any time.
Are you wanting to receive a Maya Abdominal Massage? If so, there are some timing issues to consider before you call to make your appointment. Maya Abdominal Massage is best performed away from menstrual bleeding time… So, if you have regular 28-day menstrual cycles, plan your visit between days 5 and 23 of your cycle. If your cycle is more like 35 days, you can plan your appointment for anytime between days 5 and 30 of your menstrual cycle. If your period only lasts 3 days, you can plan your appointment for the 4th day of your cycle. If your menstrual cycle shifts and your appointment date falls during bleeding, please do not cancel your appointment. I have discovered that those with cramps or menstrual distress benefit from treatment during this time, and it helps me to track the source of the problem. Please call or email with specific questions.
If you don’t know when to expect your menses, just make an appointment. Or, if you have been bleeding for too long, please schedule your appointment as soon as possible because Maya Abdominal Massage is very effective at stopping excessive blood loss.
Fertility
**If you are planning to conceive during the cycle and would like to receive Maya
Abdominal Massage, plan to come to the clinic after your menstrual bleeding is finished, and up until the day of ovulation. This is usually between days 5 and 14 of the menstrual cycle. The most conservative approach is to avoid treatment after ovulation. However, I believe it is safe to massage over the uterus up until 7 days post-ovulation- when the embryo implants – this may extend your window of opportunity.**
Pregnancy
If You are Pregnant, Congratulations! Plan your monthly visit from the beginning of the Second Trimester (13 wks or more) until 32 weeks. From 32 to 38 weeks plan on every other week, and then weekly from 38 to birth. This is the ideal schedule.
If you have pelvic or abdominal pains, or nausea in the First Trimester – schedule an appointment, I may be able to help you.
PostPartum
If you have given birth within the past 3 weeks, I will do a house-call for Maya Vaginal Steam and brief Abdominal and Sacral treatment. After 3 weeks, please come to the clinic.
Post C-section – 6 weeks post cesarean birth is conservative. Ask your surgeon. I will help you avoid excessive scar tissue growth, and assist you in the emotional healing.
Digestion
If your visit is primarily for Digestive Health, you may schedule your appointment at any time.
NB. A missed appointment, or cancellation within 24 hours of the appointment is subject to a $55 fee. After 3 late cancellations, I reserve the right to charge you for the full appointment. Many people are waiting to receive treatment, and a missed appointment represents a loss for the doctor, the staff and other patients. If you are late to your appointment, please expect to have a shorter visit. If you must cancel, cancelling a week before the appointment is ideal because I will have plenty of time to fill the appointment.
